Qualifications

What makes me qualified?

"Jack of all trades, master of none, though oftentimes better than master of one."

I wear many hats and have a broad perspective stemming from over two decades in the education industry and being a parent in the district for 9 years. My experience goes beyond the classroom- evident in my service to several committees, groups, and organizations for different schools at various levels from a regular member in PTAs, to being a representative on a School Site Council, a leader in my Union, and currently serving on a board for a school funding association. I go all in when it comes to roles I am tasked to fulfill.

Being an activities director created a necessity for knowing, understanding, and closely abiding by Ed Code and board policies, particularly in the realm of finances. It's important to understand the abilities and limitations of various funding organizations associated with schools for legal compliance.

I am an advocate for students and site staff and have undergone years worth of training to grow my ability to create optimal learning environments and develop innovative/relevant curriculum. I want what is best for all students, particulalry the outliers. I am a regular speaker at board meetings and have been- even prior to making the decision to run for a trustee position. I am vocal for both the programs I support, as well as the processes that I think need refining. You will hear/see me speak in Mountain View, as well as in the district that employs me- proactively highlighting initiatives, supporting students/colleagues, or seeking accountability/change.

As an educational innovator, I am accustomed to anticipating future needs and developing/piloting initiatives before they become a "necessity." I regularly assess programs for efficiency and create solutions and implementation plans for things to run more smoothly/effectively.

With additional education and industry experience in business, particularly marketing, I know the importance of two-way communication with stakeholders. I believe that providing information freely and proactively creates transparency and that trust is built by demonstrating your ability to act in good faith. Good leadership is also about being able to "read the room" and potentially pivot plans if new information is provided or a better way is illuminated. The community is a wonderful resource full of people that are knowledgeable in so many fields who are able to see different ways to solve problems-  I am ready to listen.
